By now, you’ve probably heard that James Bond’s latest adventure has arrived in theaters in the form of Spectre. However, the spy franchise has been around for over 50 years, and there are nearly two dozen movies for you to choose from if you haven’t had your fill. Below are five of James Bond’s most entertaining films (note: entertaining does not necessarily mean good.)
By Mary Dolan
1. Die Another Day (2002)
This is the one that features Madonna, invisible cars and an Asian man who uses plastic surgery to somehow turn himself into a white guy. It definitely didn’t win any Oscars, but it will keep you entertained simply by virtue of its sheer ridiculousness.
2. A View to A Kill (1985)
This may be one of the campiest Bond movies, and that’s saying something. You may laugh at the ’80s-ness of it all, but you’ll enjoy Duran Duran’s theme song Christopher Walken and Grace Jones as two wonderfully hammy villains.
3. Skyfall (2012)
Take a break from the cheesiness of the previous two films and dive into Skyfall. It’s smart, classy and features a suitably epic title song that’s sung by Adele. While it’s not as light as some others on this list, it’ll keep you just as entertained.
4. Goldeneye (1995)
Goldeneye features a villain who is named Xenia Onatopp and suffocates people by squeezing them with her thighs. Despite (or because of) this, it is a fun action movie that someone manages to walk the line between serious and silly.
5. Goldfinger (1964)
Sean Connery will always remain many fans’ favorite Bond, and nowhere is he more awesome than in Goldfinger. The movie has over-the-top evil schemes, unfortunately named love interests and an iconic theme song — everything you need for a classic James Bond movie.
