No-Bake Peanut Butter Pumpkin Balls
Loaded with fiber and beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A, pumpkin helps dogs’ digestive tract. Peanut butter provides your dog with protein, along with heart-healthy fats, niacin, vitamin B and vitamin E.
Ingredients:
1 cup of pumpkin puree
¼ cup of natural peanut butter
¼ cup of fat-free milk
3 cups of old fashioned oats (divided 2 ½ cups and ½ cup)
Directions:
Combine pumpkin, peanut butter and milk in a bowl and stir until well combined. Gradually mix in 2 ½ cups of oat.
Use a tablespoon to scoop the mixture and form it into ball shapes.
Roll the balls in the ½ cup of oats and place on a tray.
Cover the balls and place them in the refrigerator for about an hour, or until firm.
Simple Sweet Potato Biscuits
Sweet potatoes are filled with health benefits for dogs. It includes antioxidants and contains vitamins A, C and B6, in addition to being a great source of dietary fiber.
Ingredients:
1 sweet potato (enough for 1 cup of mashed sweet potato)
2 ½ cups of whole wheat flour
¼ cup of unsweetened applesauce
2 eggs
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Pierce sweet potato with a fork. Heat sweet potato in microwave for about 6 minutes, or until tender. Cut the sweet potato in half and scoop the flesh out into a bowl. Mash with a fork and transfer one cup into a mixing bowl.
Mix flour, applesauce and eggs with the sweet potato mash until dough forms.t helps to use your hands.
Roll dough out on a well-floured surface until about ½ inch thick.
Use either cookie cutters or a pizza cutter to cut out the cookies, and place them on an ungreased baking tray.
Bake for about 35-45 minutes, or until dark golden brown and crisp.
Carrot Apple Cookies
High in antioxidants, carrots are a great treat for your dog. Carrots contain vitamins A, K and C and also help with a dog’s vision, heart and blood sugar levels. Apples are great sources of vitamins A and C and are packed with fiber. Apples also help freshen a dog’s breath by cleaning residue off of teeth.
Ingredients:
1 cup of whole wheat flour
1 cup of grated carrots
½ cup of unsweetened applesauce
1 egg
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix flour, carrots, applesauce and egg until dough forms (add a couple of tablespoons of flour more if dough is too sticky).
Roll dough into small balls and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Use the back of a spoon to press the balls until they are about ¼-½ inch thick.
Bake for about 30-40 minutes, or until dark golden brown and crisp.
