The music is no doubt the best part of ACL, but the food is certainly not that far behind. After planning out which stages and artists you’ll be seeing, it’ll be time to figure out your eating plan.
Story by Megan Prendergast
We all know the best part of eating is dessert, so here are some vendors to check out at ACL that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Amy’s Ice Cream
Nothing screams summer quite like big ol’ scoop of ice cream. So while the temperature here in Austin is still in the high 90s, grab a cone (or bowl) of Amy’s Ice Cream at ACL. Amy’s offers a delicious selection of ice cream, but you cannot go wrong with its most popular and iconic flavor – Mexican vanilla. Unlike the regular vanilla ice cream you’re used to, the Mexican vanilla is richer and sweeter. But, if you’re not feeling vanilla, try the Zilker mint chip ice cream, a blend of creamy, minty ice cream and chocolate chips.
Bananarchy
If you’re looking for something slightly healthier, head over to Bananarchy to try some of its one-of-a-kind banana creations. Imagine a frozen banana dipped in rich melted chocolate (or peanut butter or vanilla), covered in all the toppings your heart desires. Toppings include nuts, Oreos, M&Ms, sprinkles and more. If you don’t want to get too creative, choose one of its already prepared creations, such as the Afternoon Delight, a mix of all three dipping sauces topped with nuts and graham crackers.
GoodPop
Take a break from the heat, and cool down with a GoodPop popsicle. The geniuses over at GoodPop have crafted a widely unique selection of popsicles. Made with all-natural, non-GMO, organic and locally sourced ingredients, GoodPop popsicles are unlike any on the market. Refresh yourself with the watermelon agave or hibiscus mint popsicles, or give yourself a much needed energy boost with the cold brew coffee pop.
Skull & Cakebones
Everything at Skull & Cakebones, from the cookies to the pies, the cupcakes to the tarts, is locally-sourced, non-GMO and never artificial. By partnering with the local food and drink scene, Skull & Cakebones aims to bring Austinites a unique creation by making the local product the star of the treat. This year at ACL, be sure to check out its fluffy, yet moist cupcakes or its slightly gooey, but just-crispy-enough cookies. And guess what – it’s vegan, too.
Snowie
Get a little taste of New Orleans this year at ACL with a sno-ball from Snowie, an icy, frozen treat destination serving both all-natural and traditional fruit-flavored sno-balls. The classic, traditional sno-ball flavors include watermelon, cherry and blue-raspberry. But Snowie also offers its frozen treats covered in its all-natural, homemade flavors and a few exclusively ACL flavors – the Hill Country peach and the root beer sno-ball.
Tiff’s Treats
If you are craving cookies, check out Tiff’s Treats for perfectly baked cookies, including classic chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and oatmeal chocolate. If you are looking for something that will cool you off, you cannot go wrong with theTiffBlitz, a combination of everything you could want in a dessert. The frozen treat is a blend of vanilla ice cream, chunks of chocolate chip cookies and gooey, fudgy brownie bites topped with crumbled sugar cookies.
