Looking for a live music weekend, but don’t want to break the bank? Here are some alternative options to Austin City Limits Festival that keep the cash in your pocket.

Weekend 1
KGSR’s ACL Live Broadcast at Threadgill’s
Catch a taste of the fest without the investment Friday and Saturday morning at the classic Austin eatery. With a $5 donation to Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, you can catch live performances from several ACL performers from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Threadgill’s on Riverside. 93.3 KGSR will be broadcasting the event live on their airways, and in true KGSR fashion, breakfast tacos and drink specials will be available. Friday’s highlights include Corrine Bailey Rae, Strumbellas and Band of Horses. Lucy Dacus, Saint Motel and Naked and Afraid will perform Saturday.
Deep Time at Hotel Vegas
Austin locals Deep Time will be headlining a show at East Austin’s Hotel Vegas on Saturday Oct. 1. The duo’s sweet, synthy tunes are sure to fill your indie pop quota for the weekend. Music starts at 9 p.m. with Leather Girls, Polio Club,and DJ Plan B also on the bill. Arrive early and grab a burger out back for a full night of mini-festing.
Weekend 2
Ditch the Fest at Cheer Up Charlies
Avoid Zilker and head over to Red River Street. Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 and lasting into the wee hours of the morning, Cheer Up Charlies is hosting their own Ditch the Fest Fest free of charge. The lineup includes local loves Hikes, SMILE, Corduroi and Triplets to name just a few.
French House Limits at French House Co-Op
On Saturday, Oct. 8 French House is hosting a free ACL after show featuring bands from the Houston and Austin areas. Skip out on long lines and Camelbaks to get groovy in West Campus for free with BYOB. Tunes courtesy of Mamalarky, Dillon Trimm, Carpet and the Drapes, Boys Club and TØMA.
