The first of the Austin Fashion Week runway shows kicked off on Wednesday night, May 1, at Austin Music Hall. The Wednesday show included nine women’s wear collections, from swimwear to evening wear. Models dressed in TropiCouture came down the runway first, sporting resort-style garments. Other looks included Crowned Bird’s colorful retro pieces by designer Priscilla Barroso, high-wasted polka dot bikinis by OFabz Swimwear and crowd favorite Glossy Girls curated by 10-year-old fashion designer Destinee.
At Thursday night’s show, s.t.e.f. got things rolling with a line of ethically-produced, sustainable threads. Then, M.E. Shirley added causal basics to the runway, and Romey Roe spiced things up with mesh tops and snakeskin dresses. G.I.A.N.’s detail-oriented line turned heads with constructed pieces and seamless structure. Also on the list were wedding dresses by Adrienne Yunger, velvet-buttoned overcoats by RaggDahl and black, lacy pieces by Kucoon.
The night ended with a showcase from Ross Bennett’s men’s clothing line.
