The performance marked the band’s first show in Austin since their name change from previous title “Andrew Jackson Jihad” and the release of their latest album “The Bible 2.” Although the band’s switch to AJJ was controversial for some fans, the five-piece act still managed to fill the venue’s large outdoor space with a variety of people.
The Phoenix-based band’s sound has changed in many ways during their 12 years putting out albums. In the beginning, founding members Sean Bonnette and Ben Gallaty primarily performed acoustic sets, but the group has since added electric elements and other effects. Opening acts Chris Farren and Diners supported AJJ on their tour. Chris Farren is a singer-songwriter from Florida and Diners is a 5-piece “friendly rock and roll” band from Phoenix.
