If you’re like me, you have a bunch of shows lined up in your Netflix queue. I can’t keep up with all of Netflix’s original series, starting with “House of Cards” in February 2013.
By Nicole Farrell
I feel overwhelmed and woefully behind. So many shows and not enough time! Here are synopses for shows I have not seen.
Stranger Things
There are three boys and Winona Ryder, who appears perpetually distressed. The kids ride bikes, and I think it’s set in the ’80s. A girl with a shaved head is kidnapped. There are monsters and waffles. I keep seeing this wall with the alphabet and colored Christmas lights. It seems to match a lot of people’s aesthetic.
Me trying to understand the plot and the show’s appeal, as told by Millie Bobby Brown, a star of this show:
Narcos
There is a handsome man with dark hair and a mustache. He has a smug expression all the time. I think he deals cocaine in a Latin American country. It seems sinister and possibly violent. It seems very artsy noir, where the audience loves the antagonist. I could be totally off-base here.
The Get Down
A bunch of very musically-talented black teenagers take the ’70s hip hop scene by storm. The cast looks extremely talented, and young romance blossoms. There seems to be a lot of dancing and good music, and Daveed Diggs of the Broadway musical, “Hamilton,” is in there somewhere, so I really have no excuse to not watch what seems like a really fun show.
Marvel’s Luke Cage
I’m so into Netflix taking over Marvel superheroes. Like, so into it. I can’t wait to watch this series. I know Luke Cage is super strong and bulletproof, and that the show makes some cutting edge racial commentary, especially in regards to police brutality. I am here for this.
Easy
I honestly have no idea what this is about. I think it has to do with romance and sex. I’ve heard it boasts some emotional and authentic storytelling, but honestly I’m so single right now, I’m not in the mood. Wait, I just realized Orlando Bloom is in it. Maybe I’ll reconsider.
