Whether you voted or not, you’re probably experiencing painful waves of stress in anticipation of the election results tomorrow night. Maybe you’re one headline away from succumbing to eternal despair; maybe you’re one political Facebook post away from falling into a social media-induced fit of rage. Whatever position you’re in, ORANGE gets it, and we’re here to relate to your stress with this list of thoughts that will/have likely crossed your mind during the final days of the election.
Story by Audrey Marlett
WILL THIS ELECTION AFFECT MY ABILITY TO SIT THROUGH FAMILY DINNERS WITHOUT GETTING INTO AN ARGUMENT?
No matter the outcome, probably not. Have no fear, at least a few of your relatives will passive aggressively quote their favorite Fox News anchor to remind you that they disapprove of both your lifestyle and your voting record.
WILL SOCIAL MEDIA EVER BE THE SAME?
Regardless of who wins this election, you are likely terrified of what conspiracy theory links will appear in your Facebook news feed. Deleting people is definitely an option, but watching your misguided Facebook friends post links to angry Tomi Lahren videos is like watching a train wreck; it kind of makes you ill, but you can’t look away because it’s the most entertaining thing that you’ve seen in weeks.
WHAT OFFENSIVE THINGS WILL I HAVE TO HEAR THAT ONE UNCLE SAY DURING FAMILY OUTINGS?
There is nothing quite comparable to hearing that one uncle (you know the one) talk about how his vision of America is being destroyed. What will he say next? Will you be able to smile and nod? Or will his comments be so offensive that they warrant starting an argument? Whatever it may be, stay strong. You only have to see that one uncle ever so often.
IS THIS THE END?
We’re all thinking the same thing. We truly won’t know whether or not it’s the end until it’s definitely the end. The end might be November 8th, but heck. In the meantime, just sit back and scream internally.
