Are you looking for more in your international program than merely a classroom experience? The BE Global program is a new addition to the University of Texas International Office, and is designed for engineering and business students who want a professional international encounter. The program matches students with internships where their individual skills, interests, and career objectives will be practiced and refined.
Students will engage in an unpaid internship between 30 and 35 hours a week, with a local or multinational organization or company. Programs take place during the first summer session for a duration of either 6 or 10 weeks. According to the BE Global website, the program will give students “insight into an international work environment through company visits, networking with local professionals and UT alumni, and attending business etiquette and culture training.”
One option for BE Global participants is a custom internship “in the heart of one of Asia’s cultural and business hubs:” Shanghai, China. Working in the midst of a successful and rapidly urbanizing environment will familiarize students with the interworkings of one of the most powerful emerging markets in the world. Students will also enjoy the unique atmosphere Asia has to offer, with its longstanding traditions and culture, and vibrant, fast-paced setting.
But why choose Shanghai? According to the BE Global Website, “an internship in Shanghai offers valuable job experience as well as the opportunity to experience a completely different and exciting culture.” Shanghai is rapidly developing, and this program—directed at engineering and business students—opens doors for potential career opportunities that will place them at the center of Shanghai’s growing prosperity and urbanization.
Internship placement is a global program for students with professional interests and pursuits, and will leave them with invaluable experiences and opportunities that will pave their way after college.
