But, as everyone knows, the book is always better than the movie, so here are five books you should read before they hit the big screen next year:

“Paper Towns” by John Green

The author behind the box office smash hit “The Fault in Our Stars” has yet another bestselling novel being adapted for the big screen. John Green’s “Paper Towns” is a bold attempt to deconstruct the myth of the manic pixie dream girl. The novel follows Quentin Jacobsen, a shy, awkward teen who has spent the majority of his life pining over the enigmatic and adventurous Margo Roth Spielman. When Quentin arrives at school one day to find that Margo has mysteriously disappeared, he begins to realize how little he really knows about the girl he thought he loved. “The Fault in Our Stars” alumnus Nat Wolff will star as Quentin, and British supermodel Cara Delevingne is set to portray Margo.

“Serena” by Ron Rash

This novel tells the story of timber magnate George Pemberton and his outspoken, fiercely independent wife Serena in 1930s North Carolina. After learning that Serena is unable to bear children, the couple’s already deteriorating relationship takes a much darker turn. The highly anticipated film reunites dynamic duo Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, who previously starred together in two Oscar-winning flicks, “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle.”

“Love, Rosie” by Cecelia Ahern

This quirky love story by Cecelia Ahern is told entirely through letters, emails, and instant messages between the two main characters, Alex Stewart and Rosie Dunne. Best friends since childhood, Alex and Rosie are unexpectedly separated when Alex’s family moves to America while Rosie remains in England. The novel chronicles their ever-changing relationship over 12 years and asks the question of whether or not there really is such a thing as “meant to be.” The film stars Lily Collins (“Mirror, Mirror”) and Sam Claflin (“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”).

“The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge” by Michael Punke

This dark western thriller follows frontiersman Hugh Glass, a fur trapper who is mauled by a bear while hunting. After his companions rob him and leave him to die, Glass miraculously manages to survive and dedicates his life to getting revenge on the men who wronged him. Alejandro González Iñárritu, who received critical acclaim for his most recent film “Birdman,” is directing the movie adaptation. Leonardo DiCaprio will star as the revenge-seeking frontiersman.

Expected Release Date: December 25, 2015

Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Named as one of the 10 best books of the year by The New York Times, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel is a tale of two young Nigerians, Ifemelu and Obinze, who are separated after falling in love. Ifemelu reluctantly leaves Nigeria after receiving a scholarship to attend an American university, while Obinze is unable to secure a visa. The book deals with Ifemelu’s struggles of racial discrimination and culture shock while studying in the United States. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o will star as Ifemelu and will also reunite with her “12 Years a Slave” co-star Brad Pitt, who is set to produce the romantic drama.
