People assume the dating app is a cleaner, safer and less sleazy version of Tinder. But, is Bumble really all that great? ORANGE explored some of the conceptions about Bumble and Tinder to see if it really is about quality versus quantity, and our readers told us what they thought of the two apps.

Pro-Bumble
The girl has to message the guy first.
Many girls prefer to use Bumble because the ball is in their court. They like to think that they’re inbox won’t be flooded with aggressive messages from shallow creeps, which I admit, is a good thought. Plus, guys that are self-conscious or just plain lazy don’t have to worry about coming up with anything elaborate to get your attention. Twenty-two percent of our readers said that this was why Bumble was better than Tinder.
It seems less about hooking up.
Alright fine, maybe Bumble users really do care less about hook-ups. Either way, 17 percent of our readers said this was why they believed Bumble was better than Tinder. Maybe it’s because Bumble also has “Bumble BFF” where you try to match with new potential friends, but Bumble has a more clean reputation than its promiscuous friend Tinder.
It seems safer.
This seems pretty legit. Eleven percent of our readers believe this is why Bumble is better. Part of the advent of Bumble was to create a safer and modified version of Tinder. When the creators of Bumble left Tinder, they decided to up the amount of information someone has to add to make their account live. To use Bumble you have to include your occupation, your actual age and where you went to college. It’s not foolproof, but it’s definitely a step up in safety from Tinder.
It was pretty much split right in the middle between Bumble lovers and Bumble skeptics. That’s where we come in with our Pro-Tinder school of thought.
Pro Tinder
For girls, there’s a much higher chance of getting a match.
There is almost two men to every woman on Tinder, while Bumble’s ratio is much more even. Granted, this is the quality versus quantity argument. You might have to weed through a lot of creeps to find one good guy you would actually go out with.
Both sides are allowed to message first.
If you’re cool with getting a few creepy and annoying messages if it means you don’t have to make the first move, then Tinder is your app. This is usually the defining line.
You want to stick to what you know.
For some people, it’s honestly about just sticking with what you know works. Tinder was around for two years before Bumble, and it is a ton of 20-something’s holy grail of social dating apps.
Either way, no matter which app you use, there’s one thing you can always count on: you’re never gonna run out of photos of guys holding a fish they just caught. You can find a strange peace in that. But hey guys, I’m pretty sure that small trout you caught isn’t an aphrodisiac.
