This year’s Austin City Limits marked another successful year for the music festival. As usual, the Live Music Capital of the World didn’t disappoint and brought thousands of people together from all across the world.
Story by Miranda Chiechi
With this year’s festival came some new and exciting additions, including a snazzy “Wine Lounge,” expansion of the festival grounds to span across Barton Springs Road with the Barton Springs stage and a silent disco, just to name a few. For six days, Zilker Park was filled with the sounds of the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers, the hype from rapper D.R.A.M., the zany lyrics from rock musician, Ron Gallo the sweet sounds from sister duo, First Aid Kit and many more.
But more importantly amongst those sweet sounds were the people of Austin and beyond. ACL brought fans, artists, bands, friends, family and strangers together into one community for the past two weekends. Despite the recent tragedy at the music festival in Las Vegas, people came together without fear for their shared love of music.
The headliner of the fest’s final night, The Killers, are from Las Vegas themselves. To close the first weekend of ACL, frontman, Brandon Flowers, emotionally thanked the people at Zilker Park for fearlessly coming out to the festival and refusing to let anyone scare them from doing so. Despite the country’s heartbreak, ACL proved that there is still good and love in the world.
