Austin City Limits Music Festival is a time to celebrate friendship, music and signature style. This year was no different.
Story by Reilly Lawrence
From the introduction of the male romper to the resurgence of the ever-classic fanny pack, festival-goers were serving looks throughout ACL. Whether you splurged on a wristband or lived vicariously through your friends’ extensive Snapchat stories, here’s all you need to know about what went down at Zilker Park.
Country-Western Chic
Fringe, boots and bandanas, oh my! It was clear that even in the Austin heat, no one was afraid of pulling leather and suede out to play this weekend. Chic cowgirls are back, yeehaw!

The Man Romper
Yes, you read that correctly. The male romper (“romphim”) slayed the game both weekends of ACL, proving that one-pieces are not here for society’s gender-conforming restrictions. Cute, lacey rompers shall no longer be for the ladies only. This only leaves one question, whether or not they also had issuesin the port-a-potties.

Red for Days
So dynamic! So spicy! The chicest color of the season made a huge appearance in accent pieces and outfits during ACL this year. Whether it’s incorporated in a blouse, pair of sunglasses or ironic tee, the red brings a certain vibrancy that works for day and night looks. As one of the strongest, most powerful colors on the spectrum, something about covering oneself in it is liberating. Very “Scarlet Letter” if you ask us.

Hats on Hats on Hats
Whether you’re “Team Hat” or not, the accessory definitely showed up to the party this ACL. ORANGE Magazine’s theory: the cute western look worked perfectly with the proliferation of daytime country artists, resulting in a sun-shaded crowd like none other. And who can blame them? Standing in the Austin heat for more than eight hours can be brutal.

The Power Clash
Calling all maximalists! If nothing makes you happier than a good power clashing of prints, you’ll be glad to hear that ACL did not disappoint on that front. Festivals are spaces where people should feel free to express their wildest fashion dreams. Among the most popular patterns to mix and match were cheetah, polka dot, seersucker and floral.
