“Stranger Things” has done it again. The second season of the cult-following thriller premiered last month on Netflix and everyone is talking about it, including us at ORANGE Magazine.
Story by Kendall Abelman
Besides the fact that every episode makes us question if monsters are actually real, we can’t help but swoon over the ‘80s fashion, involving everything from knit sweaters to oversized jackets.
“Stranger Things” gives vintage a new meaning and edge. After bingeing the show, many want to live in the ‘80s and dress like their favorite characters. Here are some of our favorite looks from both seasons of the show.
Nancy’s Fitted Knit Sweater – Classic Cable-Knit Sweater, $28
Nancy (Natalia Dyer) has an innocent demeanor that can be summed up with her school-girl, modest wardrobe. This knit sweater is simple yet versatile. The high neckline and striped detail are flattering. Nancy makes fighting monsters and walking through creepy forests almost look somewhat sweet, pairing the sweater with some maroon corduroys.

Lucas’s Corduroy Jacket – Faux Shearling Jacket, $69.90
Honestly, we wish we dressed this cool when we were in middle school because Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) puts us to shame. This warm style is perfect for conquering bad guys and walking around campus on a chilly day. “Stranger Things” takes place in Indiana but Texans can rock a good lined jacket.

Max’s Track Jacket – Adidas Beckenbauer Track Jacket, $75
Max (Sadie Sink) is the new girl in town in season two and she has made track jackets cool again. We remember these from our childhood and “Stranger Things” makes us feel nostalgic, among many other emotions. Pair your track jacket with a graphic tee or a striped tee, like Max, for a sporty look.

Eleven’s Petite Pink Dress – Shirt Dress with Frill, $49.90
We couldn’t forget to include this dress worn by Eleven (Millie Bobbi Brown). Not only is it adorable, but it is truly a staple for Eleven in the first season. The idea of pairing a pink loose dress with some high socks and converse is especially notable. Maybe if you dress like Eleven, eventually you will get her superpowers too.

Even if you have yet to watch “Stranger Things,” you can appreciate the fashion that the show brings to life as it also reminds us of how scared and sartorially inspired we are.

Great article! Just FYI, it’s spelled "Millie", not "Milly".
