From the moment 19-year-old Declan McKenna won the Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition in 2015, his music career rocketed.

His debut single, “Brazil,” shot up on charts around the world and his debut album, “What Do You Think About the Car?” released in July 2017. Finally, last Wednesday evening, McKenna performed in Austin for his first headlining tour.
McKenna jumped on Stubbs’ stage at his sold-out show sporting a shirt that read “Hot Damn,” with glitter decorating his cheeks and a high energy level that would last the entirety of his set. He kept the crowd dancing to his lively tunes and laughing at his continuous banter and fun attitude.
After McKenna apologized for accidentally calling Austin “Houston” the last time he was in the live music capital of the world, fans laughed off the Brit’s mistake, kept grooving and showered McKenna with love. One concert-goer gifted him a hand-painted portrait and another threw him a pink cowboy hat, which he wore throughout most of the show. McKenna’s love and talent for performing live showed through as the crowd rarely stood still. McKenna’s show was not one to miss.
