As the Canadian rock band made their way through the setlist, their instruments sang “Private School,” off of their 2016 album Morning Report. The first-time jitters didn’t get to them at all. They spread their excitement as they called for a fan to join them on stage.
“Does anyone know D, G and E minor on the guitar?” frontman Max Kerman asked.
A sea of arms filled the crowd. An eager fan jumped for the opportunity and soon found himself on stage. Kerman handed the music enthusiast a guitar as he quickly went over the chords with six-stringer, Mike DeAngelis.
The fan knew every word. He was the the honorary sixth member of Arkells. The audience cheered for the musicians and the grateful fan. Soon enough, his 15 seconds of fame drew to an end as he made his way back to the audience.
“It’s an honor to be playing at Austin City Limits,” Kerman assured the crowd.
The Arkells’ first performance at ACL came to a close, leaving behind great memories and making dreams come true.
