The neon green trend started to take off in the latter half of 2018. Blake Lively wowed in a neon green suit while promoting her film A Simple Favor last August.
In January, Kendall Jenner rang in the New Year with a neon green top to contrast her black vinyl leggings. In an Instagram post, Jenner captioned the photo of her look with the words “Really into green these days.”
Little sister, Kylie Jenner, is really into neon green these days too. Jenner, her ex-BFF Jordan and her daughter Stormi all mirrored Kendall’s bright aesthetic on a beach vacation in January.
In early September at the various fashion weeks for Spring/Summer ‘19, the industry also endorsed this bright shade. Model Bella Hadid stunned in a green, fluorescent Brandon Maxwell dress Others rocked the shade sporting different styles. Futuristic, neon pantsuits from Christian Siriano, bright lingerie pieces from Fenty Beauty, and flirty, green dressed from Alice and Olivia were standouts.
Since this trend has taken over fashion, everyone from Hailey Bieber to Victoria Justice and Emily Blunt, has been rocking this signature 80s shade. And of course, it’s been lighting up the street style of every city it’s reached.
The popularity of neon green in haute couture and mainstream culture corresponds with the recent embrace of psychedelic prints and other 80s aesthetics like tie-dye, shoulder pads and biker shorts on runways.
But just because celebrities and runway models are making the rounds in these bright styles, that doesn’t mean you can’t hop on the bandwagon too. Check out Forever 21, ASOS and Nasty Gal to find cool, affordable, lime pieces..
Now that the fashion world has given this slime-esque shade an unexpected thumbs up, it gives you the power to take neon green to the next level. Learn from the best and then be better. Shine bright this spring!
