Each year, University Fashion Group students at the University of Texas at Austin put on the largest student-run fashion show in the country. On April 25, senior textile and apparel students showcased their pieces in front of a live audience at the Frank Erwin Center and to all those watching at home on the Longhorn Network. This year’s program, Matrix, featured 140 original designs from the collections of 28 students. Both fabulous and environmentally friendly, the pieces were geared towards sustainability.

No waste, no problem. The diverse array of looks shined on the runway. Western-inspired denim pieces, flirty florals, vibrant colors, avant garde constructions and textures stole the night. Showcasing their talents, backgrounds and unique fashion perspectives, the designers created fresh looks that could rival work from the pros. A send off for the textile and apparel seniors, the show gave every indication that the future is bright for these emerging creatives. Perhaps the most impressive feat about the students’ work is that in creating these beautiful garments, few materials went to waste. There is nothing more chic than helping save the planet! Take a look at the slideshow below to see all that the Matrix fashion show had to offer.
