Let’s be honest. No one sits through a three-hour award show to see a bunch of acceptance speeches. The best moments are unplanned, unexpected and, sometimes, downright embarrassing. Remember who won best supporting actor at last year’s Oscars? Probably not. But everyone remembers Jennifer Lawrence’s adorably awkward fall while walking up the stairs to accept her award. The 2009 MTV Video of the Year is long forgotten, but Kanye West stealing Taylor Swift’s mic at the VMAs will live on in our hearts and memes forever.
To keep your memory fresh, here are the 10 most memorable moments from this award show season.
10. John Travolta got a little too touchy with Adele Dazeem at the Oscars
Everyone remembers last year’s Oscars when John Travolta called award-winning singer, Idina Menzel, “Adele Dazeem.” At this year’s awards, after apologizing and finally pronouncing her name properly, Travolta proceeded to do something else that deserves an apology: he grabbed the actress by the chin. No matter how much Menzel tried to pull her face away, Travolta just couldn’t seem to “let it go.”
9. It wasn’t the only Travolta incident, either.
Travolta was apparently very affectionate/creepy all night, and Scarlett Johansson looked eager to make an escape as well.

8. You had one job, Kim.
If there’s anything Kim Kardashian knows how to do, it’s take a selfie. But when the BRIT Awards hosts asked her to take one, she just couldn’t handle the pressure. She mumbled that the camera didn’t work before uncomfortably walking off stage.
7. Speaking of uncomfortable, Taylor Swift did some dancing.
By now, we’ve come to expect an array of awkward dance moves at any award show Taylor Swift attends. It’s somewhat of a tradition, and Swift certainly didn’t disappoint at the Grammy Awards this year.
6. Kanye almost pulled another Kanye.
When she wasn’t dancing up a storm, T-Swift might have had some nasty flashbacks to her own 2009 VMA run-in with Kanye at this year’s Grammys. Kanye West decided to have a little fun by pretending to interrupt Beck’s acceptance speech after he defeated Queen Bey (gasp!) for “Album of the Year.”
5. And at first, Jay-Z was a little worried that Kanye wasn’t joking.
Kanye may have thought his Grammy’s stunt was all fun and games, but Jay-Z looked like he had to change his pants afterward.
4. Chrissy Teigen made a face that launched a thousand memes.
During her husband John Legend’s acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, the cameras cut to Chrissy Teigen making… this face. Naturally, it went viral and spawned a number of hilarious memes.
3. Oprah got friend-zoned.
Unwanted face-touching seemed to be a trend at the Oscars this year. David Oyelowo, who played Martin Luther King Jr. in the Best Picture nominee “Selma,” was another unfortunate recipient of an awkward caress — this time from Oprah.
2. #Capegate
Madonna took the stage at the BRIT Awards, only for one of her backup dancers to accidentally drag her down the stairs by her cape. Being Madonna, she got back up and finished the performance like a champ — although her backup dancer may be looking for new work soon.
Of course, #Capegate started trending on Twitter immediately after the fall.

God bless you Twitter. At times like this you are ruthless and callous and absolutely hysterical. #capegate

1. NPH got on Octavia Spencer’s last nerve.
In the best-worst moment of the season, Oscars host Neil Patrick Harris asked Spencer to watch his “predictions box” as part of a bit that got old pretty quickly as it was continuously referenced throughout the night. By the end of it, Octavia looked less than amused. She was probably wishing Ellen had hosted again instead (like everyone else on Twitter).
