The time has come. The month of love!! This playlist should provide any love song you’ll ever need.
- Little Things by One Direction
This song was suggested by freshman business student Jaycee Hausenfluck who gets in her feels to this bop. She commented that “the lyrics are pretty much verbatim how every girl wants a guy to feel about her, and it’s just a really sweet and simple song.” With One Direction parting ways, at least they left us with this bop.
Fav line: “If I let you know I’m here for you, maybe you’ll love yourself like I love you”
2. If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys
This song, recommended by freshman HDO student Julia Shell, should always be on any playlist about love. Julia believes that this song is “not like most love songs and doesn’t just focus on the physical aspects of people but who they are.”
Well-known line: “Some people want diamond rings, Some just want everything, But everything means nothing, If I ain’t got you”
3. Drops of Jupiter by Train
I don’t know about yall but this song takes me straight back to my middle school days. Suggested by freshman Journalism student Sloan Wyatt, she comments how
“there’s something so beautiful yet simple about the song.” She goes on to say that “he is basically telling her that he will always love her regardless of the time she takes to find herself.”
Fav line: “She acts like summer and walks like rain reminds me that there’s time to change”
4. All Too Well by Taylor Swift
You already know I had to put T Swift on the playlist. Suggested by freshman PR student Grace Kelley, she explains how Swift “does a great job of painting out a picture of love/heartbreak and you can tell when she sings there is a lot of emotion. Also, it took her four years [to write] and that’s a lot.”
Fav line: “You call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest”
Here are a few of my picks:
5. Let’s Fall in Love for the Night by Finneas
Fun fact: I found Finneas through Billie Eilish who is his sister! Anyways, I love this song because it’s so upbeat and straight up comes out to say it’s okay if we only love each other for one night. Let’s chill and just LOVE. I also really enjoy the sounds of frogs croaking in the background.
Fav line: “Let’s fall in love for the night and forget in the morning, Play me a song that you like, you can bet I’ll know know every line”
6. Speechless by Dan + Shay
This song was also featured on the Spring Break playlist…I love it THAT much. It’s just one of those songs that you can belt out at the top of your lungs. I think all girls could agree we would want a man to talk about us in this way. We love a man who can be open about their feelings!
Fav line: “It’s always on a night like tonight, I thank God you can read my mind, ‘Cause when you look at me with those eyes, I’m speechless.”
7. If I Say by Mumford and Sons
Coming from Mumford and Sons most recent album, this song made the playlist because of this line: “And if I say I love you, well, then I love you.” Doesn’t get much more straightforward than that.
8. Heart Eyes by COIN
COIN always does such a great job in making upbeat songs and this one is no exception. Heart eyes has the best lyrics and has a nice little narrative feel to it. This song depicts love as a carefree and fun adventure.
Fav line: “A rose-colored dream when she’s loving you, With a cartwheel heart, never running out of room”
10. Wild Love (Acoustic) by James Bay
This song was my ‘drive to school and get in your feels DEEP’ song. James Bay’s voice is perfect and on the subject of love, a match made in Heaven. The acoustic version is definitely the best version.
Fav line: “Let’s be hopeful, don’t be broken, Let’s stay caught up in the moment”
11. Light by Sleeping At Last
Sleeping At Last has so many good songs that it was hard to pick just one. From their iconic song known from Twilight to some of their instrumental pieces, they can really do it all. The music is so calming and so much attention to detail is used. Love is so sweet through this song.
Fav line: “‘Cause you are loved, You are loved more than you know, I hereby pledge all of my days, To prove it so”
