Throughout February, UT Culture Shock — a community organization for UT Campus Events and Entertainment — hosted Black History Month events, including their annual student fashion show, “Culture’d Couture.”

“[Fashion] gives people the opportunity to get out of their shell, a lot of people that walked today had never walked before. It gave them the opportunity to build their confidence and to express themselves. A lot of people like to express themselves through clothing.”
Donye Crawford, UT Culture Shock president

“I like going to Culture Shock events because it’s nice to have a space for Black people on campus. I’ve been wanting to do a fashion show, it was really fun being able to come out here and bring some of my favorite outfits and show them off.”
