Rising in the Twitter ranks to a “must-follow” on UT’s campus, check out our favorite Twitter activity from the one and only Mack Brown.
By Selina Bonilla
After a frenzy of rumors and conflicting reports, Mack Brown announced he would step down as UT’s head coach on Dec. 14. After 16 seasons filled with exhausting practices, exhilarating games, extensive recruiting and all of the blood, sweat, tears and time involved in football season, the main question on everyone’s mind is — what is he going to do now?
Two months after his announcement, his social media followers found the answer: Twitter. Shying away from his former once-a-week inspirational quote during the hectic football season, Brown has stepped into the tweet-light. From football game play-by-plays to congratulating his former players and famous friends (Ahem! Matthew McConaughey) to a fun-filled Q&A, Mack Brown’s Twitter presence has blossomed.
Mack Brown on his new Twitter usage:
Twitter can get pretty tricky. Stay tuned.
Saying thanks to fans and supporters after his final game:
No, thank YOU.
Mack Brown’s new game day activities:
Watch out tailgaters, Mack Brown will be in the house! Err…tent?
On his favorite movies & TV shows:
Oops, Mack. Did you mean to tweet that to your followers?
“Alright, alright, alright.”
Do you think Mack ever used “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” during a pre-game speech?
Or said “Texas Forever,” while clinking his glass with President Powers?
I hope so.
Brown on the bad-weather class cancellations:
I took his advice during “Snowmageddon.”
When Mack Brown tweets, you listen.
Interacting with his followers with a Q&A on Super Bowl Sunday:
Am I the only one who doesn’t fully understand that tweet aside from Gandhi reference?
Sidebar: Mack Brown gets compared to @Horse_ebooks, an account that falls into the weird part of Twitter, which tweets incomplete phrases with no context. Some of @Horse_ebooks’ best include: “As you might know, I am a full time Internet” and “Everything happens so much.”
During the Q&A session, Brown’s followers reversed roles and attempt to coach him on how to use Twitter.
Like that, coach.
Third time’s the charm … maybe … sometimes …
Oh well. He can do what he wants.
He’s Mack FREAKING Brown.
And last but not least, Mack Brown on the Super Bowl excitement:
I’m so turnt, Mack.
