The Witch Hat:
· Reese’s peanut butter cups
· Package of Hershey’s kisses
· 1 tube of orange frosting (or any color that you prefer)
Step 1: Unwrap the Reese’s peanut butter cups and an equal amount of Hershey’s kisses to accompany each cup.
Step 2: Squeeze a good amount of orange frosting to the bottom of the Hershey’s kiss.
Step 3: Place a Hershey’s kiss in the middle of each Reese’s peanut butter cup.
How’s that for a wickedly easy treat? Chocolate lovers won’t be able to resist.
Spider Cupcakes:
· Chocolate cake mix (whatever brand you prefer will work)
· Chocolate frosting
· Beater or spoon (to mix cake batter)
· Knife
· Chocolate sprinkles
· Candied eyes
· Black licorice or spider leg inserts
· Halloween themed cupcake liners
Step 1: Using Halloween liners, follow the box instructions to make chocolate cupcakes, and keep in mind these will require additional ingredients (i.e. oil, water and eggs). Let the cupcakes cool for two hours, or until the frosting won’t fall off.
Step 2: Frost the cupcakes with the chocolate frosting and apply a layer of chocolate sprinkles.
Step 3: Add the candied eyes toward the front of each cupcake.
Step 4: Add the legs to your spider cupcake. Originally, I was going to use black licorice for the legs, until I came across these spider legs at a local convenient store. But if black licorice suits your fancy, have at it!
These spider cupcakes are spooky, festive and provide the perfect scare factor to your Halloween treats.
Rice Krispies Pumpkin Patch:
· 6 cups of Rice Krispies
· 1 large microwave safe bowl
· 3 tablespoons of butter
· Microwave
· Spoon
· Green Mike & Ikes (for the pumpkin stems)
· 1 cup of miniature marshmallows
· Food coloring (red and yellow to make orange)
Step 1: Heat up the butter in the large bowl until melted, then add the marshmallows to the butter and heat until the mixture is fluffy.
Step 2: Add the heated mixture to the Rice Krispies and mix the ingredients together with the spoon (or if you don’t mind getting your hands sticky, use your hands). Mix in the food coloring.
Step 3: Once the ingredients have been mixed, start forming your pumpkins. Keep in mind: the balls don’t have to be perfectly shaped since pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes.
Note: If ingredients aren’t sticking together properly, extra marshmallows or extra Rice Krispies may need to be added, or you can wet your hands with water. It won’t alter the ingredients and helps mold the mixture into a ball.
Step 4: Place pumpkins on a cooking sheet, a plate or whatever serving dish you will use.
Step 5: Add 1 green Mike & Ikes candy to each pumpkin to look like a stem.
Don’t have time to go to the pumpkin patch this Halloween season? Good thing you can make your very own in the comfort of your kitchen!
The Evil Magic Spell Cocktail:
· 1 oz. of orange and pineapple mixed juice (or pineapple juice alone will work)
· 1 oz. of cranberry juice
· 2 oz. of 7-Up (or Sprite)
· 1 oz. of Malibu Coconut Rum
· Shot glass
· Optional: medium-sized glass or mixer
Step 1: Mix the orange and pineapple juice with the cranberry juice and 7-Up (or Sprite) in a shot glass (or a medium-sized glass or drink mixer if you want the extra room to mix the ingredients).
Step 2: Add the Malibu Coconut Rum right before you take the shot and enjoy!
Whether you decide to use all of these spooky recipes for your upcoming party or you just want to find a way to get into the spirit of Halloween, these DIY treats will surely put a spell on you. *insert Count Dracula laugh*
