As we transition from a harsh winter into a colorful Texas spring, fashion continues to evolve. Lucky for us, bold and beautiful lipsticks are always in — no matter the season.

Keep your maroon and plum lip colors, but start applying the pinks and oranges with the change in weather. Here are six fabulous lipsticks that will suit both the chilly winds of winter and the nice breeze of spring:
Even though I don’t usually wear pink lipstick, this pink changed my mind. This lip color works great with a cute black dress for a night out, or even some jeans for a more casual look. It’s glossy (not matte) and rolls onto the lips smoothly. I love this lipstick because it’s soft enough for spring, but bold enough to make a statement.
Lady Danger is my favorite orange/red lipstick. The orange hues make it perfect for a casual day outfit, and, because it’s so bold, it also works for a night out. It stands out above all of the other orange/red lipsticks I have used.
Sophomore Jenna Sanchez appreciates a bold red, too. “My favorite lipstick is F-Bomb by Urban Decay. When I wear it, I feel like I own the world! I’d probably wear it with a white, lacey top and some blue accents,” sophomore Jenna Sanchez says. As for Lady Danger, the matte finish doesn’t leave your lips dry and the lipstick lasts all day. I love that it’s orange with a hint of red. It’s definitely a showstopper.
Russian Red is the standard red lipstick you need to have. It’s a deep matte and the shade is MAC’s top seller with more blue undertones than Ruby Woo (also by MAC). Although it is very similar to Ruby Woo, it isn’t as matte and it doesn’t dry out your lips as much. Russian Red is a classic that works on everybody.
Night Valley Red is the perfect name for this lipstick. It’s a red perfect for nighttime because of its burgundy color. “I love MAC red because it’s bold and soft at the same time. I also like that it goes on evenly and lasts a long time. I like to wear it with dark colors when I’m going out so I’m not too colorful,” junior journalism student Andie Rogers says.
This shade has berry-colored undertones and lasts for a few hours, despite the fact that it isn’t a matte lipstick. It’s a perfect balance between glossy and matte, which is why I love wearing it. It isn’t drying and it’s a smooth, deep red that looks good with a little smoky eye or a dark colored dress.
Although this color reminds me of autumn and winter, it’s too perfect to not wear all of the time. It’s a step up from Night Valley Red since it’s a deeper burgundy and spreads onto the lips a bit heavier. Diva has more purple undertones than red, but it is still considered a deep red. Darker in color than the lipsticks I’ve mentioned before, this lipstick goes well mascara and blush instead of dark eye shadow.
Cyber is the newest addition to my lipstick collection and is currently my favorite. Despite the dark purple/deep plum in color, it is not matte. It goes on glossy and doesn’t look too harsh on the lips.
I love this lipstick because it makes a statement. It works on all skin tones, but, because of the richness, not everyone likes it. Try imagining this stick with some big hair and dark nail polish for a fun night out.
