Throughout this fall, there have been grumblings around campus about the state of Texas fall sports programs. Many students have voiced their disappointment that the University of Texas at Austin doesn’t appear to have a dominant sport on campus this season. But the fact is that UT does, and students need to open their eyes and recognize that. Yes, this is a rebuilding year for our football team, but the Texas volleyball team is ranked fifth in the country and has only lost one game. It’s time the UT community and the city of Austin acknowledge the consistent excellence of the volleyball program and show the team more support.
The internet is a funny thing. We can communicate across countries and seas, sharing ideas, thoughts and, of course, pictures. Nowadays, with a quick pic you can turn an average Joe into a viral sensation. This was the case for UT's resident Albino Squirrel. In the generation of Beliebers and Directioners, why not add some Albino Squirrel-ers to the mix?
Between the festivals, football games and millennials immigrating by the dozens, it comes as no surprise that Austin is a hub for food trucks. From barbecue to cupcakes, these mobile eateries satisfy a bounty of cravings. With hundreds food carts scattered throughout the city, it’s hard to know which one to choose - especially to cure hunger pangs during a busy festival or post-Sixth Street hankerings. To help ease the anxiety of arbitrary decision making between neighboring vendors, ORANGE will be giving a sneak peek into the history, kitchen and crazy customers at some of the best food trucks in Austin.
Next up: Svante's Stuffed Burgers.
Bouldin Creek Café, located at the corner of S. First and Mary streets, has a style that blends with the spirit of Austin — a full vegetarian menu in a dog-friendly, laidback environment. I was uneasy about the vegetarian-only options, but this restaurant my taste buds.

Tightly grasping the tool of his trade, Ethan Cummins stares at the canvas that lies before him — eyes trained, unblinking as if he is trying to pull some hidden picture from its depths to the surface. It's something you would expect of a student in an art class. He wanders a few feet to the right, then the left, then crouches down to get an alternate point of view. He is carefully contemplating his next stroke, his next color choice to bring the image in his head to artistic reality.
A proper movie-watching experience goes far beyond the visual appeal. A good soundtrack heightens the viewer’s enjoyment and understanding of the film, articulating the emotional impact of a scene when words might fail. Our favorite soundtracks do just that. They elevate their respective movies from mere entertainment to true art.
Fun Fun Fun Fest entertained Austin for its eighth year with fun, as promised. Relive the three days through these images captured by ORANGE photographers.
The luminous Rae Cosmetics studio sits on W. 2nd street in downtown Austin. Apart from the bright pops of color from the makeup, the interior of the studio is entirely white. Posters of athletes adorn the wall. A ballet dancer, a cyclist and a triathlete model the makeup, vouching for its resistance to heat and perspiration.
