Here are some of ORANGE Magazine’s favorite movies from the South by Southwest film festival.

South by Southwest  is known for having its finger on the pulse of all things technology and business, and this year was no different. However, the bustling festival scene couldn’t escape the environment in which it exists - in a year of Amazon sex trafficking scandals, security breaches, Russian interference, Hollywood, Google and Uber harassment scandals, a serious look at the structure of certain industries had to be examined.

Rather than just play on your phone, here are five things to do in line at South by Southwest.

ORANGE sat down with Alec Palacio and Max Moreno of up-and-coming DJ duo DFZ also known as “Dance Floor Zombies,” to discuss their musical past, present and future.

Stephen Fitzpatrick of England and Audun Laading of Norway met studying music in Liverpool which eventually led to the creation of dream pop duo, Her’s.

The singer-songwriter Celia Pavey, who goes by the name Vera Blue, floated through the middle of the South by Southwest Swan Dive audience. She walked up the steps on to the stage to play her first show in the United States.

Austinites were joined by Solange, Lana Del Rey and Lil Wayne, as well as up-and-coming bands from around the globe like Her’s, Maggie Rogers, The Japanese House and more.

Moderated by Teen Vogue’s editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth, the first panel featured poet Grace Dunham and actresses Rowan Blanchard and Yara Shahidi.

Director Ben Wheatley’s “Free Fire” (2016) premiered in the United States as a headliner of the SXSW Film Festival on Monday  at the Paramount Theater in downtown Austin. The one-setting crime and comedy thriller shocked the audience’s minds and hearing with its twisting plotline and ear-shattering sound bites, containing over 7,000 rounds of ammunition fired.
