Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Birdman” has been taking the indie-viewing world by storm with larger-than-life performances by a well-known cast and its insistence on being a (nearly) one-shot film. But does the film actually hold up to the majesty that people seem to be bestowing upon it? 

 In The Tale of Princess Kaguya, a gorgeously animated work, Takahata gives us one of his strongest views on the feminine experience, hitting certain hardships harder than he ever has before.

Halloween is swiftly approaching, and you know what that means — it's time to sit down and watch a terrifying (and/or disturbing/gruesome/chilling) film that will make you wish for some butterflies and Happy Meals (or Big Kid Meals, if you're a Burger King kind of kid).
